Meet RSVPs; Practice this week
Hello Waverunners!!
I think most would call our first week of practice a success! I wasn’t so sure when I saw the forecast we would even get the chance to be in the pool much. Hopefully, our good luck will hold!
I registered our team with the league on Saturday. While most teams in the immediate area are down from last year, we added 15 swimmers! THANK YOU for spreading the word!
We know this is a crazy week for everyone. We have decided to hold practice on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday* at the regular afternoon times. We will start morning practices on Tuesday, May 29.
Thursday* practice is only for those who can swim an entire length of the pool unassisted in at least 1 stroke. Coach will be timing swimmers in preparation for our first meet! This isn’t a high-pressure situation, just establishing a baseline for the swimmers. You’ll be amazed to see how their times drop throughout the summer! We could use parents help recording times.
For swimmers who are practicing in Lane 1 with Coach Alex and Coach Gaby: please see them this week for morning practice assignment. Swimmers who are unable to be in the water unassisted will have lessons from 10:30-11:00am (once morning practices start). For others, we will try to group you based off swim level and continue to instruct from lane 1. Please see Kari if you have any questions.
T Shirts and swim caps will be here before our first meet.
MEET RSVPs: RSVPs are due 1 week before the meet. IF you are unable to attend, please make sure you let us know. Coach works on entries the weekend before and unreported absences may prevent another swimmer from entering an event. The first meet is available now, the rest should be available later tonight or tomorrow.
Volunteer Sign Ups: Are now open for first meet, I’m working on adding additional meets now. For those with swimmers 8 and under, they will be done at end of first half. Most positions will allow you to see your swimmer swim.
FOR RSVP and Volunteer Sign up are available on our website: https://watertonwaverunners.swimtopia.com Click on the meet name under the EVENTS section on the right hand side.
Please ask your swimmers to dispose of all trash after practice. We have been finding several water bottles, hair ties, and snack wrappers after practice.
Please obey the speed limit, 25 MPH, through the neighborhood and remind your teenage drivers.
We are fortunate to have the use of this pool and don’t want to lose the privilege due to disgruntled neighbors.
