Stroke and Turn Officials Needed; 1 last class
Parents,
Each team is required to fill 4 stroke and turn official slots per meet (2 first half; 2 second half). Not having enough officials is grounds for forfeit.
We are thankful that so many of you stepped up last year to get certified. Almost all of our new officials signed up with their spouse. While this does double the number of officials we have, it does but a burden on those who also have younger children.
We could really use a few more to help share the load. Many people are scared to take this task on and don't want to be responsible for DQing a child. While I understand the fear, I do want to let you know it is not nearly as scary as it sounds. As far as DQing, it does help the swimmer to learn what they did wrong. It also shows the coach that a swimmer needs more attention or guidance in a particular area. Many of the younger kids don't even know that they are DQ'd, they are proud they finished the race! Seeing that pride is really what this sport is all about.
I was certified a full season before I ever had to officiate. Now that I have done it, it really is my new favorite job on the team. I'm more engaged in the meet, I get a front row spot to see ALL of my child's swims and I witness the pride that our youngest swimmer have as they exit the pool. I will continue to officiate this year but I can only do away meets as I will likely be needed in the computer room during home meets.
If you think you may want to check out what it takes, there is one final training class Tuesday night. This is online and can be done from the comfort of your home, in your PJs with a glass of wine, if you choose! ;)
ONE LAST STROKE AND TURN CLASS will be held on Tuesday, May 22nd (6:30-9pm) visit:

Its best to check out the site BEFORE the class starts to ensure your system is capable or to download the software, if required.
I will be at all practices on Monday, if you have any questions! If you are going to attend the class, please let me know. I have to register you in the database so you get credit.
THANK YOU!!
