COUNTY MEET INFORMATION/T-Shirt Orders Due WEDNESDAY by 10:30am (details below)
Attached is a list of swimmers on our team listed in the top 75 of individual events as of June 21st. A top 100 list will be published this week, I will forward when it is available. (CTRL+F will open search feature)
The GCSL takes the top 50 qualifiers in each individual event to the County Championship Meet. Some swimmers in the top 50 may not be attending the meet or may choose to swim a different event. Therefore, some of children ranked 51 or higher will move into the top 50 slots based on the number of swimmers ahead of them in the rankings who “scratch”. (Scratch means to decline to swim an event.) We enter every child listed in the top 100 that wants to swim in the county meet. We have had a swimmer ranked 99th in an event in the past, get into the top 50. Last year in more than one event and age group, the seeding dropped beyond the 85th place. Once the county compiles all that information and factors in the scratches they notify us on July 1st of the final 50 that made it into the county meet. Also, each team sends an A Medley Relay team and an A Freestyle Relay team from each age group to county. Each week the computer pulls the four fastest combinations of times from each age group to determine the A relay teams. Keep in mind that the A relay teams do have the potential to change. The GCSL Championship meet is held in downtown Atlanta at the GA Tech Aquatic Center home of the 1996 Olympic Swimming. Also, just like in dual meets we need “all hands on deck” to pull this meet off. Our team is required to volunteer. We will receive our volunteer assignments soon and will give you the details of your volunteer assignment.
