Thursday Meet Information
Hello Waverunners!!!
Stick with me, this email is LOADED with information, especially for new to the team parents.
See the attachments for entry information for your swimmer. The entry by swimmer report is the easiest way to see what your swimmer is swimming. The Heat Sheet is the program of the meet which shows the order of events and lane position.
First scan the Entry by swimmer to make sure your swimmer is entered. If they are not entered and DO plan to swim, it could be due to 1 of 2 reasons:
1. No RSVP was made, emails were sent out with directions, reply or contact Coach Jenna, for this meet only we can modify entries but for standard Dual Meets we cannot, please consider RSVPing now for entire season via the Calendar.
2. They are BUBBLE HEAT swimmers! We have a few friends who aren't quite ready to swim by themselves in a meet... BUT we still want them to participate. IF you are able (and your swimmer is willing) please come and they will swim FIRST at 5:55pm (tentatively) with their coach who will assist them. Bubble Heat swimmers are:
- Eden Jensen
- Gracie and Jules Collins
- Lincoln and Ryder Selin
This meet is a TIME TRIAL MEET. This is new this year league wide! Previously many teams would hold this during practice as an informal way to gather times and help position swimmers for their first meet. BUT this year is different. Feedback from Coaches and Council Members across the league was that this week is ROUGH on scheduling. There are some clusters that have graduation on Thursday and it was always an issue to move meets around. The League decided that ALL teams would run solo meets AND be "counted" as a regular meet, which means times can count for county meet championships (more on that later for newbies!) This gives teams flexibility to hold this meet when they need to around pool and graduation limitations. Since our local clusters don't have graduations on Thursday, we are sticking to our standard meet schedule.
This is GREAT for first time swim members. You get to see the chaos without quite having the full effect, so hopefully next week won't be so foreign ;)
Operationally this meet will function much like a normal meet, BUT there are a few things to note.
- There are no RELAYS, only individual events. We also are not running the 100 Free or 100 Fly
- The second half of the meet will run "quick". Especially for our older swimmers who can swim Breast and Fly. For that reason, we will likely pull in a few breaks to give our swimmers a chance to recover. This would not happen during a normal meet.
- If your swimmer is not entered into an event they would like to swim, please have them speak to Coach Jenna at practice Thursday or when they arrive at the meet. We do have the ability to tweak SOME, if there is an open lane. (again not something we can do during a dual meet)
- Once your swimmer completes their events, they may be free to leave, but they should check in with Coach Ally or Coach Jenna. At regular meets, this is always required as relays can be fluid as to who is swimming.
- VOLUNTEERS pay attention to the events on the heat sheet- with absence of relays and the 100yd events there are gaps. Please listen for announcements
PARKING: to ensure there is a direct path for emergency equipment, we will be setting up temporary no parking signs on the right hand side of the street from Shoreline Trace/Lakeview to the pool. Please obey and park on the left hand side IN THE DIRECTION OF TRAFFIC. Please also be courteous to our neighborhood homeowners and do not block driveways. Those who arrive early, get the best parking but will also be asked to help clear the pool deck of furniture.
Concession Stand: Our Concession stand sells Pizza, BBQ Pork and Burgers (Dogs may also be available) we try our best to keep costs reasonable for families so please consider purchases.
HEAT SHEETS: We previously mentioned Heat Sheets are a program of the meet. Most teams sell printed copies. We do not, we ask parents to print or view on their mobile device. When we are visitors at other pools though, heat sheets will likely not be pre-published and cost $1-$2 per copy.
NEW TO SWIMMING?? The first meet can seem a little crazy, please reach out to someone else on deck. We are fortunate to have LOTS of veteran families who are eager to help and share information.
BULLPEN: Swimmers are to stay in the bullpen area during the meet. This helps us find them for their events.
CHAIRS: please bring your own chair. The HOA owned pool furniture is cleared for meets.
