Parent Meeting Update

Waverunners,

Thank you to the families that were able to come out on Saturday for the meeting and swim suit fitting! It was great to see everyone, and we are excited to see everyone else soon.

**If you acknowledged wanting to be a stroke & turn judge at registration, please be on the lookout for a separate email with training times and instructions!**

Below are the three links to what was discussed at the meeting. Please note that the team swim suit is not mandatory, we just ask that you have a navy competition suit for swim meets.

  • Team Manual & Head Volunteer List - outlines all procedures, expectations, and points of contacts
  • Reddiset Team Suit Site - orders of over $75 ship for free, deadline is 04/28/2023. IF YOU NEED TO BE FITTED, you can go to any SwimAtlanta location, let the shop know that you are with Waterton, and they can size you there.
  • Team Spirit Gear Store - Deadline for this one is 05/05/2023. All items will be shipped to the team when the store closes & distributed at practice. NOTE: each swimmer gets a team store and swim cap already with their dues

Be in the lookout for a team meet & greet at the Grayson Bruster's in the coming weeks :)!

Some FAQs that came up or have changed since last season:

  • First two weeks of practice starting May 8th are in the afternoon in the following order:
    • Monday/Wednesday:
      • 5-6 PM: 15 & Up
      • 6-7 PM: 13 & 14
      • 7-8 PM: 11 & 12
    • Tuesday/Thursday:
      • 5-6 PM: 9 & 10
      • 6-7 PM: 6 & Under (Practice, lessons start with morning practices)
      • 7-8 PM: 7 & 8
  • Starting Thursday 05/25 (and 05/26 as the one Friday exception), practice is in the mornings with this schedule Monday-Thursday through 06/22:
    • 7-8 AM: 15 & Up (arrive at 6:45 to help set up)
    • 8-9 AM: 13 & 14
    • 9-9:45: 11 & 12
    • 9:45-10:30: 9 & 10
    • 10:30-11: 7 & 8
    • 11-11:30: 6 & Under (Practice)
    • 11:30 AM-12 PM: 6 & Under (Lessons)
  • Fun Fridays will start on 06/02, with festivities being from 10-11 AM. This is a time for swimmers to collect their ribbons from the prior meet, hang out and have fun with their teammates, and eat some breakfast snacks provided by the team.
    • All non-Waterton HOA members must leave after 11 AM unless they are with a HOA member and have paid the guest fee
    • Coach Zach will be hosting a series of clinics from 9-10 AM prior to each of these Fun Friday events, more info TBA on this as the season approaches
  • As of now we will not have a time trial due to the quick turnaround of the first meet. For returning swimmers, we will use your previous season's times.
    • IF you swim year-round, have times from a previous team, or have times you wish for us to use for relays and for seeding, please email Coach Jenna so she can look you up on Meet Mobile or SwimTopia to verify those times.
  • Parent/Guardian/Ride needs to stay at the pool/in the vicinity during practice and take swimmers home after they finish their practice
    • If parents have multiple swimmers spread out throughout practices, please bring something for them to play with. The HOA has asked that we do not use the tennis courts and lake area, as well as noting the playground is use at your own risk
  • Bullpen: The bullpen will still be in the pavilion within the pool fence, but it will be more organized by age group with signs and monitors.
    • Coaches ask that all swimmers be labeled with their name, age, and events/heats/lanes with permanent marker on their shoulder/wrists prior to each meet to help bullpen workers and coaches ensure that all swimmers are where they need to be.
    • Should you choose to keep your swimmers with you, please ensure they get to their staging area on time
  • Should a complaint arise, please take the time to type it out to [email protected] (for the council) or [email protected] (Coach Jenna). We want to provide you with thorough feedback and answers, and need our coaches' attention to always be on the pool
  • Download and sign in to the SwimTopia mobile app for push notifications and to track your swimmer and our calendar

Please continue to RSVP for each meet, we do not need your swimmer's events yet just a head count of who will be at each meet. Likewise, lets try to get all volunteer slots filled (except for starter and stroke and turn judges, Jamie Sanford fills those with the judges each week).

Thank you everyone, let me know if you need anything!
