First Week, Time Trials, Bruster's

Waverunners!

The first day of practice went great yesterday! Coach Jenna & Coach Zach had a lot of praises for the effort, commitment, and coachability of our swimmers on Day 1. I wanted to once again remind everyone that swimmers should come with plenty of hydration items, water preferably, to each practice. It is only going to get hotter from here on out, and we want everyone healthy!

Time Trials:

Due to our large growth in new swimmers this year, we will be hosting a time trial! This will be on Monday, 05/22 from 6-8 PM. This event is completely optional, and will be run as a very quick and scaled down version of a swim meet! There are 8 events: four, 25 yd events, one of each stroke for our 10 & under swimmers, and the same events of 50 yd for the 11 & up swimmers. The RSVP and volunteer sign up is up and ready! We anticipate this being a quick event, with swimmers being able to have to have a baseline for the season with as well as times to help with relays.

Please note: this event's volunteer sign up does not count toward your volunteer requirement. And swimmers need to choose their events. Please consider helping with the volunteer positions, and remember that computer person and stroke & turn judges are assigned by the folks in charge of those positions.

Bruster's Spirit Night:

We are excited to be hosting a spirit night with our local Grayson Bruster's! On Tuesday, 05/23, we will be at Bruster's from 6-9 PM. We look forward to seeing everyone & having fun in the Downtown Grayson Park. We will have coupons to sell, and make sure to mention you are with us at the window when getting your order! More info will be sent out closer to the event!

Weather Concerns:

As with any outdoor sport, the weather can be a tricky spot for planning. We ask that swimmers come ready to possibly do some dry land (out of the water) exercises each day with tennis shoes and shorts. As swim parents, Coach Jenna & I keep workout clothes and shoes in the kids' swim bags ready to go. I know it is an extra step, but out goal is to ensure swimmers get some sort of workout even with weather or pool issues, so it is better to be safe than sorry.

Thank you for being a part of our swim family, please continue to reach out via email with any questions!
