Waterton Waverunners - Our Future

Waverunners,

It is not secret that one of the pros of summer swim is that it remains one of the last affordable summer sports available in our area. It is something we pride ourselves in, to be able to provide an activity that the whole family can participate in. Additionally, swim is a parent-reliant sport due to the volunteer hours we require, so each of you is doing 110% already.

We want to keep swim affordable and accessible, and so we are going to do a quick, 2-week fundraiser to help keep your out-of-pocket costs down. It is a text/email-a-thon, where all you need to do is download an app, create a profile, and add contacts. The directions for how to do this are attached. There is no selling goods of any kind, simply asking for donations.

There is ZERO commitment to the fundraiser. Nobody is forced to participate or donate, and we appreciate anyone willing to help. We appreciate all you do already, and do not want anyone to feel put out.

Our goal is to have $100 donated per family. When creating a profile, simply choose one swimmer (if you have multiple) to create a profile for or a family profile (IE: First Name: De La Peńa, Last Name: Family).

Should you want to just make a family donation, you can do so by following the link below:

The fundraiser is done through Scoreboard, the company I work for and run hundreds of fundraisers through each year. For our Waverunners, I am waiving all fees so that our team can keep 100% of the donations in-house.

The obvious question is why is this needed? There is already heavy indication that the league will need to raise it’s swimmer fee significantly next year which we will need to off-set to keep your cost down, and locally we have some much needed upgrades to make to our equipment to ensure we are providing our swimmers with the best possible experience. Specifically, our blocks have 1-2 good years left in them, and replacing them is at least $8,000 dollars.

Our goal is to never raise dues. We raised them four years ago to ensure we would always be secure. And thankfully that has held us steady, but as we continue to face more and more eccentric economic challenges, this is the best option to keep costs down and keep money in our members’ pockets.

We thank you for your understanding, and please feel free to ask any questions or concerns you may have. Our focus will be on swim and getting our Waverunners better, this is just something to make sure we can continue to do so.
