Thank you parents for attending tonights practice!  We thought it might be best to send out a summary of our parent meeting. We remembered a few things after our first session.

From Coach:

Coach recommends Speedo Vanquisher Goggles.  Cheap pool "fun" goggles will not last.  Decent goggles can be found at Academy Sports, Dicks Sporting Goods, and Swim Atlanta's shop.  

Submit an RSVP only for the meets you WILL NOT attend.  Coach typically starts placing meets the week before.  He needs to know who will be available.

County Meet:  July 9-10   If you know now your swimmer will not be able to attend, please let coach know.  The "A" relay (fastest swimmers) will attend for each age group.  

Practices will NOT be canceled for rain.  Thunder or Lightening do cause a 30 minute clearing of the pool deck.  

From your Council Representatives:

There is a home, backing to the pool, which has bamboo planted.  Children have been playing behind the pool or cutting through to the neighborhood and picking their bamboo.  It takes a few years for bamboo to become established.  These homeowners are getting understandably upset.  IF your swimmer walks to practice, please make sure they know where it is appropriate to walk. We ask that parents have a discussion with their child so they understand that this area is off limits.

Volunteers are in need for each meet.  Our first meet is NEXT THURSDAY!  We have 15 openings.  Please sign up by clicking the V button on each meet date.  8 and under swimmers will typically be finished by the end of the 1st half.  Parents with only those age swimmers should sign up for the 1st sessions of meets so you are free to leave when your swimmer is.

Due to depleted funds and some vital equipment replacements we have decided to have a FUNraiser.  On Tuesday, June 14th we will be holding a SWIM A THON.  For those not in attendance tonight donation envelopes and information flyer will be in the "ribbon" box next week for your swimmers to pick up.

Soda donations (noted in the newsletter) can be brought in anytime.  The best prices will be next week for the Memorial Day holiday.  Have your swimmer drop them at the shed.  We need donations BEFORE our first home meet.
