Thursday 5/23
Parents,
Just want to let you know that your child (or children) has volunteered to be a Shark! Or else you (or one of your good parent friends :)) volunteered your child to be a Shark (and they and you may or may not know it yet). . . .
We are having a party to introduce the Sharks to their Minnow on Thursday at 5:30 immediately before the mock meet. It won't take long--just an introduction and cupcakes/goodies. If your child can't make it, just make sure he/she finds their Minnow and introduces themselves to their Minnow--either later at the mock meet or at morning practice but certainly at the first meet. The Sharks' responsibilities are, primarily, to cheer for their Minnow and make them feel special. We will take care of treats for the Minnows' folders but the Sharks are welcome to add their own notes of encouragement if they want. Coach Emily has asked that the Sharks help get the little ones who are new to the team to their events.
It doesn't take much effort and doesn't cost any money. . . just make a little one feel special and help Emily get the little ones to their races and relays. I know it meant a lot to my kids when they first joined the team to have an older kid know their name and cheer for them.
Here are the Shark assignments wit the Minnows listed on the left and the Sharks listed on the right (we had more Sharks than MInnows so some of the Sharks are on a team):
